Nearly 50 seafood enterprises of VASEP and some other private seafood enterprise were present at Brussels, Belgium to attend the 23nd edition of Seafood Expo Global (SEG).

Being held in Brussels from April 21-23, SEG is the EU’s largest annual event in seafood processing and exporting, attracting nearly 2,000 enterprises from 100 nations across the world.

On April 21 Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Vuong Thua Phong and Viet Nam commercial counselors in EU countries visited Vietnamese pavilion at the fair.

According to VASEP, Vietnamese seafood produce showcased at the fair this year are more various and diversified than last year. The main products are shrimp, tra fish, and other processed ones. Especially, this year Viet Nam brought to the fair tuna products for EU market.

EU is the Viet Nam’s largest seafood market, accounting for roughly 20 per cent of Viet Nam’s seafood export. Stable supply and high quality are two aspects that Vietnamese seafood exporters need to concern when exporting to this market besides abiding by international standards. Therefore, safety and hygiene, original trace is always given priority by Vietnamese processors and fisheries managers to ensure that their seafood product can meet the EU’s strict requirement.

Currently, Viet Nam’s seafood export volume to EU market reaches 1.5 million tons. Viet Nam’s seafood processing technology received good assessments from importers.
